What are you seeking? In the 21st Century, we are seekers. We may be searching for: love, forgiveness, money, friends, money, self-improvement, attention, happy marriage, health, knowledge, truth, education, escape, acceptance, adventure, accomplishment, answers, the meaning of life. The list goes on and on. Some look up to celebrities, thinking that if they only had the money they have, things would be different. But the lives of most celebrities are a mess! We are searching for answers and meaning to life. You must realize is that this “seeking” will never be over. Why? Because there is more to find and accomplish. Once you conquer, you must continue to conquer. If not, a feeling of inadequacy and hopelessness begins to creep back in. It could be that you know that you are not living up to your potential or not using your talents to their full extent. Or maybe you feel if you lived in another town or country or at another time period things would be different. Or maybe you feel an emptiness that seems filled temporarily when you are actively pursuing your ambitions. However, what happens when your friends go home? When the whiskey and drugs wear off? You feel like something is missing on the inside. There is a profound emptiness that you sense. It is always there when you are quiet. There is only one possible solution. His name is Jesus.
What you are seeking comes down to two questions. “If you died today, where would you spend eternity?” The second is, “Why am I here?”
These are questions that must be answered in order to know the answer. The Bible tells us that “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23) and the “wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23). There is only one way to have assurance that you will spend eternity in Heaven. The Bible tells us that “if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved: for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.” (Romans 10:9-10). Today is the day that you can make Heaven your home by receiving Jesus as Lord and Savior.
Why am I here? Once the first question is taken care of, there is a peace and hope for the future. You are here to bring glory to God. You are his favorite daughter or son. You are to use all the talents that God has given you to their fullest extent. That may be in the business marketplace, in sports, in the music or movie industry. It could be as a schoolteacher or a doctor. It could be as a warehouse worker or minister.
Knowing that God is on your side and that you have Jesus as your Savior, your seeking and questions become secondary. They are still important, but not the motivation that drives you each day. As you give your life fully to Christ, you will begin to be motivated by His Love.
Will you begin this journey today? Do you want to fill that void in your life? Do you want to go to Heaven? If yes, pray this prayer out loud and believe in your heart:
God, I come to you now just as I am. I know that I have sinned against You. Your Bible says that if I confess Jesus with my mouth and believe in my heart, I will be saved. Father God, I believe that Jesus came to earth from Heaven and lived a sinless life. Jesus died on the Cross for me. He took my sin upon Himself. On the third day, He rose from the dead. Forgive my sins right now. I receive right now by faith, the gift of salvation. Fill me with your Holy Spirit. Today I am a new person. My past no longer has control over me. Guide me in everything that I do. I will tell others about You. Thank You for saving me. I am free! I pray this in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
Now, this is only the beginning. A prayer to receive Christ is the start of eternity. Now you need to get plugged into a local church. Go where the pastor preaches the Word of God and believes in the Power of God. As well as going to church, you should also:
